CASTLE HOWARD

Whitby (20 miles)
Whitby is the beautiful seaside town split by the River Esk. On the south side
is the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey which was the inspiration for Bram Stokers Dracula and on the other. Northside is the vast sandy beach lined with beach huts and all the trappings for the traditional seaside visitor. There is the CaptainCook Memorial Museum displaying paintings, maps, and memorabilia in actual the house where Cook once lived.

YORK (20 MILES)
York is a historic walled city at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss. Rich in heritage, it has provided the backdrop to major political even throughout much of its two millennia history. The city offers a wealth of historic attraction of which the Minster is most notable and a variety of sporting activities which make it a popular tourist destination for millions.
